Hello All,
I am figuring out how this works, it's rather similar to old LJ so far.

I am an author. What do I write? A little bit of everything! I have drabbles, short stories, flash fics, and novels. I write both in fandom and original works. Fantasy, SciFi, mixing of genres in the fanfic style of emotion are all big things I adore. Soulmates (especially platonic!), polyamory, and communication in relationships, even if it takes time to get there.

I enjoy communicating about writing, both mine and other peoples.

Feel free to say hi,
Jaimi

Converging Lives is a universe much like our own. There are people and countries, friendships, a variety of relationship types, and families. There are two main differences.

The first is relationships are generally triads rather than dyads. It’s considered odd when a person only has one partner rather than two. Stable families have three parents, single and dyad parents are considered unusual. Poly relationships where one person belongs to two triads is considered perfectly acceptable as long as all partners communicate and agree. A mixing of different gender and relationship types is considered normal.

The second is most people develop soulmarks as teenagers or adults. Soulmarks have an identical match somewhere in the world. It is a long standing belief that soulmates will always be a match in some fashion. Soulmate relationships run the gamut from close platonic friends to physical lovers to romantic partners. The majority of people accept that there are many variations, and no one way is better than any other.

Generally all three people in a relationship will have exact matching marks, however this is not always the case. In some cases each pair will have their own matched set instead. This generally occurs when the relationships are not going to be of the same type. There is a small number of people who never develop soulmarks. There is also a small number of people who develop relationships so close that secondary soulmarks, called bondmarks, appear to represent their relationship.

Matchmaking companies work together to offer finding services to help people locate their soulmates for a fee. Different religions have different beliefs regarding soulmates, soulmarks, and bondmarks.

The series is called Converging Lives because it is a blending of three lives, a converging of paths. Their lives are changed as they meet and get to know their soulmates.

Be welcome and I hope you enjoy reading as the many characters develop and grow both as people and in their relationships over the course of the stories.

The Network is the organizations started by Jon and Aither that has absorbed other companies, organizations, and gangs into their numbers. It is made up of four different parts.

Part 1: The Connections – those who work for Jon for the most part, occasionally people that he has various social and business connections with from various reasons. Some work for his actual businesses, others work directly for him. Many of the Balakhnov Staff started off as members of the Connections. Primarily focused in Europe and Asia.

Part 2: The Found – those who work directly for Aither or she has alliances with where she can call on them if there is a situation. A great many of them found themselves within the Network, were saved by someone within the Network which led to them joining it, and a few who were given the choice to join or die. Primarily focused in the Americas.

Part 3: The Marko Company – those who used to belong to the Marko Crime Syndicate or were hired in as mercenaries after it was converted over. A great many of them are ex military or those who wanted to be military and couldn’t for some reason. It is run rather strictly, though an outsider might not see it at first.

Part 4: The Drifters – those who can be called on by the other three parts and do a lot of traveling because of it. They get a base pay and benefits, plus bonus pay for whatever work they are called on to do. A lot of the Floaters are people who skirt the law in some manner.

There are a few rules that apply to all of the Network parts:

  • No mind-altering drugs that are not health related.
  • No hazing or assaulting of members.
  • No attacking others. This rule has some of the strictest punishments, and is enforced with a brutalness that some would consider cruel.
  • If an alcoholic or have a substance abuse problem you must receive treatment from one of the Network medical professionals.
That’s it. You’d think those would be simple rules, but a lot of new people find out it’s not as easy as it seems. Otherwise rules go by which section of the Network you are in and what business you may work for.
